There
was a lot to love about David Parkers concert, not the
least its brevity: four small dances. Parker is a big man
with a wit to match and a penchant for the rhythms of musical
golden oldies.
Gus Solomons, Dance Magazine, December, 1999

One
could not help but be intrigued by both the humor in the choreography
and the depth of each work. Parkers concepts are fascinating
and a surprise each time the lights come up.

The
Annenbergs Next Move Festival saved its best for last.
Choreographer David Parker and his superb company of three went
far to make up for a lackluster series this year. Parkers
comic strategy is one of dissociation, of starting from so strange
a premise that the audience quickly realizes that it has no
idea at all what might be coming next, except that it will be
something weird and wonderful. Once that happens, he has us
eating out of his hand or off his foot. We demand David
Parker & The Bang Group back again, ASAP!

Parker
has mapped out a territory where the classical is pushed until
it bleeds into the vulgar, but his work retains a sense of
beauty even in the ridiculous.

David
Parker & The Bang Group delighted audiences last Tuesday
night with several masterfully choreographed dances. The dancers
were also actors as they portrayed colorful characters that
filled the entire stage, easily capturing the attention of an
impressed audience. "Wow's" and "Oh my's"
could be heard from viewers throughout the night. Viewers are
indebted to Artspree and to David Parker and The Bang Group
for bringing this enlightening and entertaining experience to
UALR.

Rather
than shock and audience with the obvious, David Parkers
dances tickle its subconscious. Hes fond of putting a
twist on his choreographic ingredients.

Parker
is a first-rate dance comedian. The performance was terrific.
Fine choreography, excellent dancers.
Christine Temin, The Boston Globe, January 24, 1994 |
Parker
explores a fresh set of takes on male-on-male intimacyerotic,
funny, tender, and off-beat.
